Zsófi opened the game with a double, to which Betti added another one to give us the early lead. After that Petra Szabó managed to score the first points for Cegléd, too (3rd minute 2-4). Then Fanni Szabó was also able to score, tying the game up, and from that point on, the teams were neck and neck for a while, but by the middle of the quarter we got back in the lead again (6th minute 8-12). However, The hosts wouldn’t let us be happy for too long, a few minutes later they reduced the gap to one with a well-placed triple by Holesinska, and a bit later they even took the lead with a double by Fanni Szabó (13-12). In the remaining time in the period the home side managed to hold on to a tight advantage (10th minute 19-18).
Betti got the second period going with a double off and assist by Sára regaining the lead for us, but the Rakita answered back with one of her own. It was a real shoot-out at the beginning of the quarter and with a bucket by Aby we were already in a three-point advantage again, to which Neca added a triple (13th minute 21-27). With another double by Neca we were already on an 11-2 run in the quarter when Laufer put an end to the run with a lay-up. However, when Holesinska made a double to reduce the gap to seven following a triple by Bri, Dávid Gáspár called a time-out (15th minute 27-34). Cegléd managed to keep up with us after the short break as well, and with a triple by Fanni Szabó the difference was down to four again (34-38). However, it the last minutes of the half we managed to double our lead with an 8-3 run again (20th minute 37-46).
Betti picked up in the second half where she left off in the first – with a double off an assist by Zsófi, to which she added another one, before Holesinska buried a triple (40-50). We put four more on the board in the next few minutes, forcing Cegléd to call a time-out (24th minute 40-54). Fanni Szabó and Aby exchanged buckets coming back on the court, to which Alíz added a double. We dominated in this quarter, which resulted in our advantage increasing to the twenty-point mark by the end of the period (30th minute 46-66).
There was a shoot-out at the beginning of the final stage of the game, the sides put ten points on the board combined in the first two minutes (32nd minutes 50-72). Both sides kept delivering on offense, and by the middle of the quarter we even managed to increase our lead further (36th minute 56-81). After that Alíz also put three points on the board off Gabby’s assist which got us even closer to the thirty-point mark, but Fanni Szabó answered back likewise at the other end. In the last minutes we made our victory even more secure (40th minute 63-92).
Dávid Gáspár: I am not happy with the performance of the first half. The team needed a half to get to the level I expect from them. I wanted to see a much more intensive and tough game. It happened in the second half, it would have been nice to see it throughout all four quarters. I am happy about the win, and wish Cegléd the best of luck!
Dalma Czukor: We began the first half very poorly, and we had some mistakes on defense. We were able to improve on these in the second half, and execute fast-breaks off good defensive plays, which gave us the pace to get to ourselves again.
