By the end of the first period the home side cut their deficit in half (10th minute 17-21).
Kiss got the second quarter going with a double after grabbing an offensive rebound, which proved to be the only made basket for a while, before Zsófi hit one from downtown holding Pécs’s comeback effort off. Then Kiss and Sára exchanged buckets, and after the double by our guard Ferenc Csirke called his team to the bench for a time-out (14th minute 21-26). Gabby went in for an easy lay-up off Shey’s inbound pass, to which Virág Kis answered back with a three-point play giving her sixteen points in the game already, and when Marshall buried a triple at the end of a fast-break, it was Dávid Gáspár’s turn to call a time-out (27-28). Zsófi made a lay-up after the brief pause, to which Shey added a wide open three, while at the other end Nelson hit from mid-range. Following another triple by Gabby the home side called their second time-out (18th minute 29-36). Nelson split a pair of shots at the foul line, and then committed a foul against Gabby under her own rim, and our player made both shots awarded. With two more free throws by Aby the difference went into double digits for the first time in the game, to which she also added a lay-up. Jeca also made one at the foul line after the referees called a technical foul on the home bench, and then Kiss committed another foul before the clock ran out, putting Briann on the free throw line for two, she converted both, setting the score for the half-time break (20th minute 30-45).

What’s more, when Zsófi also hit one, Ferenc Csirke called his next time-out to try to stop our offensive run (25th minute 33-57). A bit later Shey stole the ball and ran down the court for an easy lay-up, and after that neither side was able to score for a while. Two minutes later Jeca made a free throw after the refs called another technical foul on the home bench, followed by a double by Zsófi, and when Jeca converted two free throws the difference increased over the thirty-point mark already (28th minute 33-64). After that Marshall finally made a double for PEAC, which was their second field goal of the period, and then she also added two free throws. Alíz beat the buzzer for a nice double, to which Réka Szűcs answered back from outside. At the end of the period the home side managed to crawl a bit closer to us, but we were still in a commanding lead going into the fourth (30th minute 43-66).
Wentzel got the final stage of the game going with a mid-range double, to which Kiss added a lay-up off a spin move. When Wentzel hit once again from behind the three-point line it was time for Dávid Gáspár to call a time-out (32nd minute 50-66). Zsófi and Betti cooperated for a lay-up after the short pause, and then our captain beat her defender for another one, and then she also converted the and-one. During that time the difference got stuck around twenty, but when Shey gave a cross-court pass to Jeca for an easy double PEAC called another time-out (37th minute 56-79). In the last few minutes we made it even more comfortable, and came away with a well-deserved victory from Pécs (40th minute 58-83).
Dávid Gáspár: The difference between the two league games we played this week was significant. Today we were focused from the first minute until the last. We were only a bit soft at the beginning of the fourth quarter when the difference was the biggest, but I think we had the game under control all the way through. PEAC have a great team! They are just as organized as they were last year, but now their rotation is stronger, that is why they are so successful this season. We considered this game to be a derby, and that was our attitude towards it as well. Huge congratulations to our players for getting it done so nicely!
Jelena Brooks: I am proud of the team for being able to play such a game. After the break on Wednesday we couldn't perform so well against BKG, but I am happy we were able to play on such a high level this time. We are facing Galatasaray on Wednesday, it will be a crucial game. Congratulations to Pécs, too, they have a great team!
