The game began with a three-point play by Gabby, and then Dalma made an easy lay-up. After that Briann buried a triple, and then Alíz forced Csata’s first time-out with a basket from close in (3rd minute 10-0). We picked up where we left off after the short talk, Gabby made another double, while Tina got the ball in the net after a rebound. We were still controlling the game, Csata scored their first basket by Zempare six and a half minutes into the game (7th minute 20-3). We ended the first period with an 8-0 run, so we were in a good position for the next period (10th minute 28-3).
At the beginning of the second quarter Betti collected her third personal foul, so she had to sit down for a while. Dalma made the first basket of the period for two, and then Gabby hit two free throws (12th minute 32-3). After Alíz’s next made shot the difference reached the thirty-point mark, while at the other end Mányoky came up with an and-one, and Bernadett Horváth scored from outside (34-9). In just a few minutes the guests put fourteen points on the board, but we were also able to deliver, forcing head coach Krisztián Tursics to call his next time-out (17th minute 43-17). Just like the first quarter we managed to end the half on top of a great run, this time we managed to score thirteen unanswered (20th minute 54-17).
Betti converted Zsófi’s lob pass into a bucket at the beginning of the third quarter, while at the other end Vivien Böröndy scored for two. Our center was on a great run in this period, she already had twelve points when Dávid Gáspár gave her a bit of rest (24th minute 66-20). We dialled it down a bit in the next few minutes, there was only one basket to see, made by Réka Lelik, so our head coach decided to call his next time-out (66-22). Briann drained a three after the brief talk, to whicb lelik answered back with a double, but we were still able to add to our huge lead (30th minute 73-27).
The final stage of the game began with a triple by Megan, and then Alíz also hit one. Csata also made their mark from outside by Horváth, and then Betti converted Sára’s assist into a double from inside the paint (33rd minute 81-30). In the next few minutes, with mostly our young guns on the court, we still managed to add to our advantage, which got over sixty points with a double by Dalma (38th minute 91-30). Dalma added five more points to her tally after that, before Hegedűs was able to score for Csata again (40th minute 98-33).
Dávid Gáspár: Our goal, which I asked from the girls was to pick up where we left off. The team was energetic, played accurately, whatever line-up we had on the court. We did a tough job this week. Congratulations to them, they were really focused! Also, I wish Csata the best of luck for the challenges they are about to face!
Bernadett Határ: The team played very well even after a longer break. We are facing some difficult tasks, but if we can have this attitude towards every game and perform like this, we won't have any problems.
Tursics Krisztián: Congratulations to Sopron, they bested us in every aspect of the game! I am very happy that we got that kind of pressure in the first half, which we can't simulate in practice. Me and my colleagues keep repeating what and how should be done in practice, and now my players could really experience how to defend on this level. We have two crucial games next week, both of which we intend to win. The performance shown today will not be enough to do that. We have two days to prepare for DVTK and win at home.
Lelik Réka: We are after a longer break. We couldn't find our place on court, but Sopron also hasn't played for a while, so that can't be an excuse. We are trying to integrate our new player into the team, and get ready for next week's games. It was good to face a Euroleague level opponent, we felt what it is like to play against pressure. We have to include that in our training, and beat our two upcoming rivals.
