After a tight first half we managed to pull away from Szekszárd and won the Hungarian Cup in Pécs.

Jeca opened the game with a nice long three, to which Aleks added another one from the corner (6-0). After that Ruzickova managed to score the first basket for Szekszárd in the form of a double. We kept our rhythm alive, though, and after a triple by Briann Zeljko Djokic ha dto call his first time-out to stop our scoring run (5th minute 11-2). Studer cut her team’s deficit in half with a shot from behind the arc after the short pause, but we wouldn’t let them come closer. We finished the first period on the high note, being ahead by seven (10th minute 20-13).
Candice got the second quarter going with a lay-up after a steal, to which Marshall answered back with a three-point play, and when she made another double, Dávid Gáspár decided to call his team to the bench to talk things over (13th minute 22-18). Aleks made a lay-up after the break, to which McCall answered back likewise. Then with a bucket by Ruzickova they reduced the gap to a single basket (24-22). Jeca came up with a mid-range jumper to secure our advantage, to which Zsófi added another one. McCall scored the last basket of the half for two points giving us a four-point edge for the rest of the game (20th minute 28-24).
The second half began with a double by Zsófi, and then Briann made another one, to which Krnjic answered back with two succesful foul shots (23rd minute 32-26). After that Dojkic made a lay-up reducing the gap to four again. Candice wouldn’t let them come closer, though, she made two shots from the charity stripe to hold Szekszárd off. Then Bálint buried a triple, to which Krnjic added two made free throws, which got our opponents only one point behind (34-33). They were unable to turn the game their way, though, Betti made two free throws, and Virág added a mid-range jumper to make it five inbetween again (28th minute 38-33). After that we came up with a 6-2 run, but the quarter ended with a triple by Studer (30th minute 44-38).
After two minutes of silence Aleks made the first basket in the final stage of the game forcing coach Djokic to call a time-out (33rd minute 46-38). A little over s minute later Brian hit a triple increasing our lead to ten points for the first time in the game (50-40). After an exchange of buckets between Candice and Marshall we went into the final two minutes in possession of a double-digit advantage (38th minute 52-42). Jeca set the final score with a lay-up off an assist by Briann, the cup is ours (40th minute 54-42)!
