Badiane opened the game with a quick double, to with Jeca answered back from behind the arc. Then Clark was also able to score for the away side, and then Badiane added another double to their total before Jeca buried her second triple of the game to tie it up (3rd minute 6-6). We were unable to take the lead, however, because Clark managed to score from outside regaining the lead for Lyon, but with a double by Tina we stayed close to our rivals. What’s more, with a well-aimed triple by Zsófi we even took the lead. Then Tanqueray and Jeca exchanged triples, to which Candice added a mid-range jumper to set the score for the first quarter (10th minute 16-14).
Candice got the second going with a floater, which was the only basket made for a while, since both teams had trouble with accuracy at the beginning of the period (13th minute 20-14). That’s when Allemand came up with a huge triple to beat the buzzer, which gave her team the mental edge, but then Candice pulled off a big fade-away jumper from mid-range, and then Aleks put four more points on the scoreboard for us which made Lyon call their first time-out (26-19). Zsófi came up with a three-point play after the short pause, increasing our lead into the double-digit region for the first time. After that Badiane scored four, but her effort was matched by that of Tina and Jeca to finish the first half on a high note (20th minute 37-26).
Tina went under the rim for a lay-up to begin the third quarter, and then she beat the buzzer for two more. After that Jeca buried an open three forcing Lyon’s next time-out in the game (22nd minute 44-26). Jeca split a pair of free throws following the short pause, while Badiane made a lay-up at the other end, to which Johannes added a triple, and when Clark ran down the court for a lay-up Dávid Gáspár called his team to the bench to talk things over (24th minute 45-33). Betti converted Briann’s assist into a lay-up after the break, to which Clark answered back with a corner three, and after that the away side managed to come all the way back to a single-digit deficit (47-38). That’s when Betti was able to lose her defender in the paint and scored two with a lay-up, to which Zsófi added a jumper from mid-range giving us a 13-point advantage before the fourth quarter (30th minute 51-38).
Plouffe began the final stage of the game with a double, to which Candice answered back likewise. After that Chabrier drained a three, and Tanqueray hit a close one, before Tina was able to react with a lay-up of her own (55-45). We couldn’t stop Lyon from scoring, though, which forced Dávid Gáspár to call his next time-out because the guests were getting dangerously close to us with still plenty of time left in the game (34th minute 55-49). Aleks made a double to hold off the comeback effort from Lyon, and then Zsófi beat the buzzer for a lay-up while drawing a foul making it a three-point play. Then the French got a technical foul for sending six players on court, and Jeca converted the foul shot awarded into a point increasing our lead even further, and then Candice came up with a huge block, and then Plouffe set the final score with a lay-up (40th minute 67-53).
Dávid Gáspár: I am very proud of the team! We got a valuable victory. Hopfeully we can cuntinue this way, and injuries will avoid us. It was hard to play against them, they have some great players, and they came up with a completely different style because of their missing centers. They broke our rhythm, but we were able to calm down, and made the right decisions. Congratulations to my players, we have to keep going on this path, and hopefully we can get some more wins in Euroleague!
Tina Jovanovic: We didn't want the game to be so fast, but since it came out that way, we tried the make the best out of it. We were trying to make use of our advantage under the basket. We shoed great defense, it was a fantastic game!
Valery Demory: It was a tough game! We played without our two injured centers, and Sopron excelled under the rims. We tried to steal the game after the break with a change in our defense, but Sopron proved to be too tough to beat. The players did everything, they played with great heart, I have no problems with this result.
Michelle Plouffe: We missed two of our centers, so we tried to take advantage of our speed. We moved a lot on defense as well, applied switches, but Sopron managed to find their chances to shoot.

The board of our club has great experience in managing difficulties, but we are facing an especially huge challenge in terms of functioning due to the energy crisis, as well as on a professional level, since Courtney Vandersloot is for now unable to join our team due to personal reasons
Klubunk vezetésének nagy tapasztalata van már a nehézségek menedzselése terén, de most különösen nagy kihívások elé nézünk a működés tekintetében az energia-válság miatt, illetve szakmai vonalon is, miután személyes okok miatt Vandersloot Courtney egyelőre nem tud csatlakozni a keretünkhöz
