The battles of FINAL4 have concluded on Sunday night, after which we are getting back to domestic territory. On Thursday from 6 pm we begin the semi-finals against ZTE!
ZTE NKK began the playoffs from the 5th seed, but that meant no problem for them. They stepped over PEAC-Pécs confidently despite not having home-court advantage. We have faced them twice during the regular season, and came up with confident wins both times. However, it might be a warning sign for us that the teams were neck and neck in the first period at home and on the road as well. After the break they were unable to keep up with us, just like in most of our domestic games. Looking back on the Hungarian league season we can say that the Euroleague level defense and pace crushes the opponents not used to it after some time, and we hope that even after a demanding FINAL4 in our feet we can still take advantage of our better abilities, and take the upcoming games as well.
Our iconic player Kata Honti who said goodbye to the team on Tuesday morning won't be with us anymore. We hereby thank Kata for everything she has done for us during her playing career, and in recent months, but time has come for her to return to her life she built up since her retirement from basketball in two years. It is also likely that we can't count on Zsófia Fegyverneky in the semi-finals either. Our team captain has been suffering from a sole injury since December, torturing Zsófi with smaller, and bigger levels of pain since then. In the game against Prague the ligament that's been causing her problems for months has been torn. We can only hope that if we make it through the semis, she will be able to help her teammates on court even if only a little.
After a day off on Monday the team had breakfast together on Tuesday, and in the evening Roberto Iniguez led the usual demanding practice for the team. Before the game we asked our Spanish player Queralt Casas about her expectations.
Tickets can be purchased at the venue for 1500 HUF. Entry to the game is free of charge below the age of 14 and above 70.
