We will continue our championship campaign in the home of ZTE NKK who are dangerous against every team in the league.
Head coach Dávid Gáspár's team had an excellent season last year, when they have finished 4th behind Győr. They managed to keep most of the team together, which is why they could be contenders in the top of the league. To prove that they have come away with a 65-63 win as guests of a Győr team that has been very well strengthened during the summer, but before that - except for the furst quarter - they were able to hold their heads high in Miskolc as well, and they bested Cegléd by 34 points in Zala county.
Last year one of the surprises was the performance of Austrian Sigi Koizar, who can coordinate her team very well, and scoring points is also one of her strong suits. This is why the point guard position is still hers this season. Another key moment was keeping American Nadia Parker, who proved to be the most trusted asset in Zalaegerszeg.
From the Hungarian players they made national team member center Györgyi Hegedűs-Őri stay, as well as veteran Virág Gáspár-Szalay and U17 World Championship participant Georgina Kovács.
Next to the two international players mentioned above they have signed a young Dutch and a veteran American player. 21-year-old Janis Ndiba is coming from Wroclaw. She can play positions 3 and 4. 29-year-old Taneisha Harrison, former Power Forwardof Romanian league-runners-up Szatmárnémeti has come to Zalaegerszeg accumulating a 17 point average at her previous team.
They also managed to sign a veteran and two young Hungarian players. Former national team member Dóra Horti came back on court after her maternity leave giving a huge boost under the rims. Benke Sára, former U20 national team member, and current Universiade team member able to play positions 2 and 3 came from PINKK-Pécsi 424. One of the great prospects of domestic basketball is 19-year-old Petra Pusztai, who switched BEAC's jersey for blue and yellow. Although, due to an injury she is not yet eligible to play.
Our team wasn't able to level up against PINKK last weekend. Despite the confident win head coach Roberto Iniguez was not satisfied with what he saw on court. Hopefully, we can make steps forward on defense and on offense, which would be important not just because of the league game against Győr at the weekend, but also because of next week's start of the Euroleague group phase.
Before the game we asked Kamilla Varga about her expectations. She has spent a couple of months with ZTE on loan last season.
Because of the SuperCup game on Tuesday our next home game will take place at an unusual time, on Friday from 6 pm, in which we host BKG PRIMA NATURA Szigetszentmiklós
A jövő keddi Szuper Kupa mérkőzés miatt szokatlan időpontban, pénteken 18 órakor kerül sor a következő hazai bajnoki mérkőzésünkre, melyen a BKG PRIMA NATURA Szigetszentmiklóst fogadjuk
The board of our club has great experience in managing difficulties, but we are facing an especially huge challenge in terms of functioning due to the energy crisis, as well as on a professional level, since Courtney Vandersloot is for now unable to join our team due to personal reasons
Klubunk vezetésének nagy tapasztalata van már a nehézségek menedzselése terén, de most különösen nagy kihívások elé nézünk a működés tekintetében az energia-válság miatt, illetve szakmai vonalon is, miután személyes okok miatt Vandersloot Courtney egyelőre nem tud csatlakozni a keretünkhöz
