We delivered a dramatic victory Tuesday night against Bourges in the first game of the Euroleague quarter-finals. From 8 pm on Friday we might settle the series in France!
The crowd at the sold-out Novomatic Aréna saw a game that satisfied every need of a basketball fan. Two well-prepared teams, high level tactical battle, physical battle, fast pace, incredible atmosphere, outstanding performances! Fortunately, we had the final say as well, Candice decided the first leg of the Euroleague classic with a world class move.
The past week has taken a lot from our players, so on Wednesday besides the in-depth analysis of the game the key players of Tuesday night spent their time at the rehab. Those who spent less time on court didn't get out of some practice, though. They have completed the tasks given by the coaching staff at the gym, and on the court.
We were heading to France early in the morning on Thursday. The team flew to Paris, from where - because of the budget-preserving solution - they continued their journey towards Bourges in the buses sent by our club in advance. Roberto Iniguez's players can get the lay of the land in the ultra-modern arena that has a capacity of 5000, where the atmosphere is expected to be infernal. A group of our fans will be there backing our team up, and they will have at least as hard a job overcoming the home fans as our team will trying to beat the French side.
Zsófia Fegyverneky also expects a big battle, but she believes that with a more effective defense we could be able to get the win on French soil against an excellent opponent.
The game can be followed on Friday from 8 pm via live online statistics at the FIBA website, and also via live video stream on the FIBA YouTube channel.
